The Road Fund Administration (RFA) is honoured to have received a recognition award at the 75th Anniversary of the International Road Federation (IRF) at a prestigious event in Vienna, Austria, on 28 June 2023.
The IRF is instrumental in providing leadership for global road sector development and brings together road professionals worldwide with a common mission of advancing road mobility systems.
The award recognises the RFA’s dedication to serving the Southern-African sub-continent to advance mobility through funding road infrastructure maintenance and development. This is further supported by the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Competitive Report Index (2020), which ranked Namibia for five consecutive years at number 1 in Africa and 23rd globally in terms of road quality and access by citizens to the road network. This is a remarkable achievement considering that Namibia also has the 6th highest number of roads per capita, placing the country in a strategic grouping with the likes of the USA, Spain, Saudi Arabia and Canada.
The RFA maintains its vision to be the global leader in sustainable road infrastructure funding and management, contributing to national development goals. This is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 of building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation, because a nation with good road infrastructure is better positioned to reap the benefits of economic growth and diversification.
